"I can’t think of a better place to start than Via."
We interviewed Payton Saltmarsh, our Sales Development Manager about what it's like working at Via. From interviewing athletes about their game to now interviewing business owners about their marketing strategy, Payton Saltmarsh feels fulfilled helping brands build more meaningful relationships with their customers while scaling their businesses with SMS and Mobile Commerce at Via.
It’s been about 6.5 months, so I’ve been able to see the company through two different office changes and about 90 hires which is super unique and cool.
Before Via I was at another tech company, it’s called Instructure so the parent company of Canvas, which a lot of us used in college. And before that I was doing some NBA broadcasting.
If I had to pick of all the things probably I could narrow it down to culture and leadership. Being able to work with all the phenomenal leadership we’ve kind of pulled from all the really high performing tech companies in Salt Lake has been really really cool. We’ve really cultivated a fantastic culture of go-getters and positivity and it’s just so fun to come into work every day, and then the career development. The leadership we get to work under is unmatched and you’re being developed every day and they’re so hands-on. So the leadership and the culture are phenomenal here.
So I’ve been so fortunate to actually work under powerhouse, strong women, from my time in NBA broadcasting to Instructure, I always had powerhouse leaders that embody positivity and effective communication and that’s something I’ve been able to learn from and take into my role as a leader. I think women bring nurturing and compassion and positivity to the role and I think it’s super beneficial for people to learn from and have these women in these leadership roles and it’s something I want to continue to bring to my team.
It’s easy working at Via because our buyers are so fun, so I really try and bring just the spirit of fun to my team and just make every day just fun and competitive and help them drive eachother but also make sure that when people show up, they’re just loving their role.
Again, it’s our buyers, like, if you’re starting out your sales career, I can’t think of a better place to start than Via. The people you’re talking to are just the coolest down-to-earth people in the world and our product is something that makes them money so every day it’s just fun conversations and just a really good place to start out your career.
